Reports from the Portuguese media continue to back-up Newcastle United’s interest in the signing of Sporting defender Gonçalo Inácio.
Back on Thursday, it had been newspaper A Bola who said ‘everything indicates’ the Magpies will try to sign the 20-year-old this summer.
It was claimed that following a January attempt, Newcastle are about to come with ‘higher numbers’ to finally convince the Lions of making the sale.
Now the chase is reported by newspaper Correio da Manhã, who brings a piece explaining the player is much wanted in England.
The outlet claims Newcastle United are fighting Manchester United in the pursuit for the defender, and even though there are no official bids for now, the interest ‘is real’.
Correio da Manhã highlights the fact that it won’t be easy to sign Gonçalo Inácio from Sporting this summer. Not only because manager Ruben Amorim has already claimed he wants to keep the player, but also because they’re already losing Zouhair Feddal.
So with Inácio being protected with a release clause worth €45m, the only way Newcastle can buy him is by triggering that. Otherwise, the Lions don’t even want to talk about his sale.
