AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw has ended up on Newcastle United’s agenda for the summer window.
That’s according to journalist Matteo Moretto, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim the Magpies aim to strengthen the centre-back position.
He adds the 22-year-old is one of the players ‘appreciated’ by Newcastle, who have taken further steps to try and secure his services.
In the ‘last few hours’, Eddie Howe’s side have made contact with the Serie A side to talk about the Germany international. That’s all the journalist has to say about Thiaw.
He has three years left on his contract, and made 30 appearances in all competitions last season.
During the discussion between the Tyneside club and the Rossoneri for Thiaw, the parties also talked about Newcastle star Kieran Trippier. Moretto adds the right-back’s case is ‘not progressing’.
The English press have stated Newcastle are interested in Thiaw’s club teammate, Fikayo Tomori. However, the journalist insists they didn’t discuss the former Chelsea man with the Italian club.
Over at Sport Mediaset, they say Newcastle ‘in particular’ like Thiaw, who is valued at ‘no less than’ €25m. They have made contact with Milan for the German, and the two clubs also talked about Trippier.
