While Newcastle United will be spending some money to improve their squad ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign, they will also be on the lookout for ways to save money.
One of those will be to target players who could be available for small transfer fees, which is a category Nabil Bentaleb falls in.
Yes, that’s the same Nabil Bentaleb who has already played for Newcastle, and Compétition in Algeria claim that the Magpies want him back.
They are aware of the past the two parties have, making it clear that when he did return to England (at St James’ Park) after his stint at Tottenham, it ‘turned into a fiasco’.
However, he’s matured since then, and despite playing for an Angers SCO side who will be playing in Ligue 2 next year, he ‘wants to return to the Premier League’.
One of the reasons for that is that he wants to ‘prove that he has regained the level’ he displayed at Tottenham, and Newcastle are ready to give him that chance.
It’s said that the Magpies have ‘made him an offer to return to the club this summer’, although there’s no mention of an approach to Angers at this moment in time.
Perhaps they are just testing the waters with the player himself first, but it seems he would jump at the chance if it was presented to him.
