Newcastle United ‘are getting serious’ about a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby and will make an offer for him this summer.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the Magpies will need to offer at least €60m to secure the Frenchman’s signature.
The newspaper explains that with Newcastle almost certain to reach the Champions League they are already making moves to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad.
That means they ‘will make an offer’ for Diaby, who they wanted in the January transfer window but couldn’t get as Leverkusen were not interested in a sale at that point.
They signed Anthony Gordon from Everton in a €45.6m deal instead but he is ‘turning out to be a flop’, failing to manage one 90-minute appearance since his arrival.
Thus, Newcastle want to sign Diaby again, although they will face competition from Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain, who are also interested in the winger.
He’s scored nine goals and provided eight assists in the Bundesliga this season, as well as two goals in the Champions League and three in the knockout stages of the Europa League, further confirming his status as a rising star.
Those numbers have seemingly convinced Newcastle to make their move, although it remains to be seen if they are willing to pay what the German side want.
