Wednesday’s edition of Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws has a story about Club Brugge’s Wesley Moares and the headline reads ‘Newcastle continues to follow Wesley’.

The Magpies are one of the clubs who have kept a close eye on the 22-year-old as they were after the striker in the winter transfer market, but their interest was ‘less concrete’ in January.

It is now claimed the Brazilian is ‘highly regarded’ by the Tyneside club and his agent is aware of the interest from the Premier League side.

Newcastle are in contact with the South American’s representative, but there has been no negotiations between the two clubs for the player so far.

Rafael Benitez’s contract at St James’ Park runs out on June 30th and so far, the former Liverpool manager has not signed a new deal with his current employer.

The uncertainty around the Spaniard’s future with the Premier League side plays a role when Wesley decides his next destination.

He has ‘already said goodbye’ to Brugge, but there is a possibility he could continue with the Jupiler Pro League club next season.
