Newcastle, Aston Villa and Liverpool are all ‘lining up’ for Mainz youngster Brajan Gruda, but any effort may already be too late.
That’s according to BILD, who cover the interest from the Premier League trio today and how any effort to sign him may be a waste of time after he dropped a potential hint about his future.
A report yesterday named Newcastle, Aston Villa and Liverpool among the suitors for Gruda, who is one of the rising talents in German football.
That report explained that the doors had been opened to a potential transfer this summer, with Mainz having told suitors that they would negotiate once they had secured their Bundesliga status.
BILD back that up today and say Newcastle, Aston Villa and Liverpool are all ‘lining up’ for the player while Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are also keen. Indeed, the Bundesliga champions would be ready to pay €20m.
Mainz are fuelling the transfer rumours themselves to ensure they get a top price for their talent, but he may have hinted his eyes are not on any of the interested parties.
The newspaper explains that Gruda has recently been pictured celebrating Mainz’s survival with his teammate in Ibiza and was seen doing so while wearing a Bayern Munich shirt.
The shirt was given to him by Leroy Sane after n 8-1 defeat in Munich in March and isn’t Gruda’s first from the club either, after also being given one by Thomas Muller earlier in the season. Muller even posted about the shirt swap on his own Instagram, which didn’t go unnoticed.
