Nice striker Evann Guessand is on Aston Villa’s shortlist as they look to bolster their attack before the end of the transfer window.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that Guessand is on the list alongside Joao Felix and Marcus Rashford.

They report that after selling Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr, Aston Villa intend to go on a late shopping spree to replace him. And that could involve making a move Guessand.

L’Equipe say that, according to English sources, Unai Emery’s side have ‘notably checked’ on Guessand as they look for offensive reinforcements.

The striker has nine goals and five assists in Ligue 1 this season and has been shortlisted on numerous occasions. Monchi is even said to have been ‘convinced’ by his qualities.

The Villans appear to be particularly interested in Ligue 1 as Paris Saint Germain’s Marco Asensio is also on their list. However, L’Equipe say that moves for Felix and Rashford are less expensive at this moment in time.

Where Guessand falls on the scale isn’t made clear but he’s very much on the list of options being looked at.

Now, we should point out that reports in England have made it clear that Aston Villa are now closing in on a deal to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United before Monday’s deadline.

That would, presumably, put a move for Guessand further down the pecking order or completely rule it out, but he’s a name to keep an eye on either way.
