Roma striker Tammy Abraham has admitted ‘you never know the future’ when asked about a potential return to Chelsea next summer.
Abraham joined Roma in a £36m deal from Chelsea in August 2021 and has been a big hit at the Italian side, scoring 29 goals in 63 games for the club so far.
His form has not gone unnoticed by former club Chelsea, who still need to find a new striker after Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku both departed in the summer.
Several reports have made it clear that they still hold an €80m buy back clause on Abraham, having negotiated its inclusion as part of the original deal taking him to Rome.
Indeed, there is a belief that Graham Potter’s arrival at Stamford Bridge could have made a return even more likely, although the decision will be Abraham’s regardless.
That led him to be questioned about the idea of a Chelsea return following Roma’s clash with Real Betis last night, but he remained coy.
“My focus now is on doing exactly what I did here last season,” he told journalist Ojora Babatunde on Twitter after the game.
“I am happy here, the team is good, the coach too, as well as the city and the fans. I am happy, but you never know the future. Only God knows.”
“For me, my focus is to do exactly what I do last year (with Roma). I’m happy here. The team is good. The manager is good.”
