AC Milan are considering a bid for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins as they plan for life post Olivier Giroud.
That’s according to Spazio Milan, who say negotiations for the Aston Villa striker are at an ‘embryonic stage’, but the idea is there, nonetheless.
They explain that Milan are monitoring various profiles as they plan for life without Giroud, who is now very much a veteran and won’t go on forever.
They are looking at various options to replace the Frenchman and one of the names that has ended up on their list of potential options is Watkins.
He ‘arouses the imagination’ of Milan, who are ready to start the first ‘dialogues’ to try ‘land the blow’ and bring the striker in from Villa Park.
Watkins is very much one of the ‘main transfer targets’, at least for CEO Giorgio Furlani, who ‘seems to have decided’ on him. The Aston Villa striker has ‘bewitched’ him and he’s ready to move if the right opportunity should present itself.
Aston Villa would seemingly be reluctant to sell given Watkins has been starring under Unai Emery, but some sources indicate that the striker could be on the market for a figure between €30-35m, which feels on the low side.
That makes him an ‘interesting target’ for Milan, although they will have to be ‘very convincing’ to get the striker out of Villa Park.
Negotiations, presumably with intermediaries, are still in the ‘embryonic stage’, but it seems Milan are seriously interested in bringing him to the club, so it’s a situation to keep an eye on.
