Enso Gonzalez is set to stay at Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer as both the club and he believe they have a mutual debt to each other.
That’s according to journalist Christian Martin, speaking to Versus, who says the 20-year-old will be staying at Wolves this summer.
Gonzalez has been at Molineux since a €6m move from Libertad in Paraguay in August 2023 but has barely featured for the club since then.
He’s only managed eight appearances totalling 458 minutes for the U21s and one, one-minute appearances for the Wolves first team thanks to a cruciate ligament tear suffered in July last year.
That’s seen him miss 43 games for Wolves and spend 310 days out of action, returning at the beginning of this month.
The question was what role he would play under Vitor Pereira moving forwards, with it unclear whether he is a part of the Portuguese manager’s long-term plans. One potential option was that he spend this season on loan somewhere to regain his fitness and get back to his best.
It seems an exit of any sort is not on the cards, though, with Martin explaining the situation when asked by Versus.
“The information I have from Enso’s entourage and from the club is that there is a mutual obligation between him and the club, and the club and the player,” he said.
