Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho helped Brazil to a convincing 3-0 win over rivals Argentina in the South America World Cup Qualifying group. It’s very tight in South America and after Bolivia recently having points won cancelled off after fielding an ineligible player, and victories given to their opponents who originally didn’t win, it’s been thrown even more up in the air.

Coutinho has been in remarkable form for Liverpool and carried it on for Brazil, to heap further misery on Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. Brazil’s Globo Esporte rated the Liverpool player as 8 out of 10, second only to Neymar, who also scored, and Jurgen Klopp will surely be pleased to see Coutinho continue his form.

The Argentine media are in full misery mode and Messi has been very frank indeed. The Barcelona superstar was quoted by Ole after the match: “We must change from the head, because when you’re not well from the head, the legs do not respond. We must change this shit.”

Messi is right, Argentina need to change something.

They currently find themselves in sixth place in the qualifying group, and only the top four automatically go through. Fifth place goes to a play-off.

As for Coutinho’s Brazil, they’re in first place, on 24 points, 8 points ahead of Argentina.
