Since joining Lazio on an initial loan deal from Arsenal, Nuno Tavares has racked up eight assists.
Over the past few months though, things have taken an ugly turn as the full-back has been troubled by injuries. As a result, he has started only four games in Serie A since the end of January.
This is clearly causing annoyance to Lazio, with Tavares out of action due to a muscle problem again.
Il Messaggero, as relayed by LaLazioSiamoNoi, have looked at the Arsenal loanee’s situation and they state the left-back has spent more time at the clinic than on the pitch.
That is why they’re now reflecting on his future as they can still earn a decent fee from his sale after a good season.
On top of that, Lazio know that a sell-on clause of 40% in Arsenal’s favour still exists. As a result, a sale in the summer can help them earn a significant fee as there is a risk of his physical problems worsening and his value reducing.
They would rather cash in when the time is right, with the club’s sporting director Angelo Fabbiani having given a mandate to intermediaries to seek new solutions for Tavares.
This can help the Roman side get out of a situation that can get messy. They will sign the player permanently from Arsenal and then sell him on.
