ABC Sevilla cover Spanish radio claims of Real Betis lining up Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph ahead of the summer window.

According to the report, Real Betis had considered signing the 21-year-old in the January window but instead opted to go for Cucho Hernández.

Hernández arrived from Columbus Crew in MLS. The transfer fee was undisclosed and the US club are entitled to a percentage of a future sale. The 26-year-old has played as a centre forward since he arrived and scored three times in 10 matches for Betis.

That clearly hasn’t been enough to satisfy Betis as they’re now turning their attention to the Leeds United youngster again.

Joseph has received a lot of attention in Spain this season and there’s even been claims he could be called up to the senior national team in the not too distant future as they plan ahead.

Leeds United have given him 40 appearances so far this season and he’s scored three goals. Whilst most of those appearances have been as a substitute, it’s clear the White value their prospect.

Real Betis may have second thoughts when they find out the level of Leeds United’s likely asking price. The two clubs have done business repeatedly in recent years, and ABC Sevilla believe that could help in a move for Joseph.

However, previous pieces of business were when the Yorkshire club were somewhat forced to part with certain players after relegation.

Things are different now.
