Tottenham’s hunt for new signings before the end of the window faces further frustration as Breel Embolo has decided to stay at Monaco.
That’s according to journalist Loic Tanzi, who reports that despite Tottenham being ‘notably’ interested in the forward, he’s remaining where he is.
He reports that despite interest in his signature and ‘notably from Tottenham’, Embolo is expected to stay at Monaco until the end of the season.
Why he has made this decision isn’t made clear but it’s a blow to Spurs, who had been linked with a move for him earlier this week. It seems instead, he can now be added to the growing list of players, including Mathys Tel, who are not quite keen on the move before deadline day.
Tanzi does add that the Swiss striker’s future in the Principality will be a topic again next summer, so he’ll be a name to keep an eye out for with Tottenham.
For now, though, it seems Ange Postecoglou and his team will have to look elsewhere for the forward reinforcement they clearly want before the transfer window closes on Monday.
