Finding joy at Lille after some rather miserable years at Bayern Munich where his progress seemed to have stalled, Renato Sanches is a wanted man once again.

A number of ‘big clubs’, as per the Ligue 1 side’s president, were reportedly interested in the Portugal international, with whispers that Liverpool were one of them.

Still needing to find a suitable Georginio Wijnaldum replacement, the Reds have been scouring the market, and Sanches makes a lot of sense.

The midfielder is capable of both being a danger in attack and tenacious in defence, which he has showcased at Lille, being key in their Ligue 1 title win last season under Christophe Galtier.

It’s reliable journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter who reports the latest on the situation, explaining Sanches ‘could leave Lille for Liverpool’ this summer.

However, such a transfer would come at a price for Jürgen Klopp’s side, as the ‘Lille board expect to let him go for at least €40-42m’.

That’s quite the hefty fee, and yet it’s worth remember Sanches is still only 23, has plenty of room to grow, and would be doing so under one of the better managers in the Premier League.

Perhaps an investment worth making…
