On Monday afternoon, L’Equipe in France had a quick article explaining that Wolverhampton Wanderers had made their first move to try and sign Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Premier League side would be facing competition from Wolfsburg in Germany, who are also keen on the young Frenchman to bolster their attack.
L’Equipe follow this up with an article in Tuesday’s paper, adding a bit of information to what they had the previous day.
They point out that Wolves and Paris Saint-Germain have ‘common interests’, often sparked by a certain Jorge Mendes, who is ‘never far away’ when the Molineux side want to do a transfer.
Meanwhile, the super agent also has a very good relationship with Luis Campos, currently in charge of transfers at the Ligue 1 side.
This is seen as a ‘situation that could help everyone out’ in case something concrete were to arrive from Wolves.
Down the player’s end, Ekitike has ‘not yet given his preference’ between the English and German teams, and he is waiting to have ‘all the options at his disposition’ before making a choice.
Wolves and Wolfsburg now have to ‘accelerate and fine-tune their respective offers’ to try and convince him and Paris Saint-Germain, all the while hoping that a ‘third club doesn’t enter in negotiations’
