Tottenham’s Ivan Perišić is a “maximum professional” and a “top guy” who doesn’t have to worry about his current lack of goals for Croatia.
That’s according to international teammate Andrej Kramaric, who has insisted there is no ill-feeling between him and the Tottenham star despite suggestions there may be.
Perišić has again been part of the Croatia set up for this international break adding to his growing tally of international appearances with 90-minute displays against Latvia and Armenia.
While he bagged two assists against the former, his long run without a goal for his country was extended to nine, with his last strike for his country coming in the win over Japan at the World Cup.
That’s a long time without a goal for the Tottenham man, who has an impressive tally of 33 goals and 30 assists in 129 games for his country since his debut in 2011.
It’s an unwanted streak that is causing some concern in his homeland, but Kramaric isn’t one of those who are bothered, insisting there’s no issues in the squad.
“I am not worried about Perišić at all. He is a maximum professional and a top guy, I know very well how much character he has, what kind of mentality he has,” he said.
“And what was written before about our relationship was really funny to me. There were no tensions between Ivan and me, we respect each other immensely, we have a very good relationship, we never really had any problems with each other.
“In football, sometimes everything happens so fast on the field that sometimes you don’t even see a teammate in a better position.
“But considering that he has played “a million” games for the national team, he will play many more and there will surely come a moment when he will score a goal. After all, he already scored in very important matches.”
