AC Milan’s interest in Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is a story which has been considerably growing in the Italian media in the past few hours, with several websites reporting it.
It turns out that someone went on record to talk about the Rossoneri’s wish to sign the Frenchman, and that’s market intermediary Vincenzo Morabito.
The official was interviewed by Calcio Mercato, and claimed that Milan have actually been chasing Giroud for a while, revealing that there was an opportunity to sign him in the January transfer window.
“In January there was the possibility of bringing Giroud into the Italian league,” Morabito told Calcio Mercato.
“We had talked about it both with Juventus and with Roma when we thought about a farewell of Edin Dzeko towards Inter. Now his agent is evaluating several offers: three come from English clubs, but there are interesting situations in Spain and Germany too.”
“At the end of the winter transfer market, Manuello and I met Milan. The Rossoneri club reiterated their appreciation for Giroud but also told us that they were evaluating younger profiles for the attack. We stayed in that contact, we’ll see for the future.”
Besides featuring Morabito’s quotes, Calcio Mercato brings their own claims on the situation as well. Even though the official didn’t make anything clear about Milan’s desire to sign the player in the future, the website comes up saying that the Rossoneri do have the Chelsea player as a target for the summer.
They say the club plan to strengthen their attacking options and Giroud, whose contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season, is a ‘real and concrete’ option, with new developments set to happen next week.
