Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has brought in Brazilian agent Giuliano Bertolucci to help with his attempted purchase of Vasco.
That’s according to journalist Bruno Andrade, who reports that Marinakis has now added Bertolucci to proceedings alongside Edu Gaspar as he looks to expand his network.
The Nottingham Forest owner is one of several groups vying to buy Vasco at this moment in time, with the Brazilian club being targeted after the fall of 777 Partners.
He has already brought in Edu from Arsenal to help with the attempted purchase, with it explained in Brazil that the former Gunners chief was leading the charge for Marinakis despite not yet being formally given a role by the Greek magnate.
Marinakis is not the only one in the running, with a recent report suggesting he was in danger of missing out as former Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani was out in front while there was also bidders from America and an Arab fund considering moves.
The battle for the Brazilian club is very much underway and set to intensify in the coming weeks and according to Andrade, the Nottingham Forest owner has added another Brazilian to his team to aid his chances.
“Evangelos Marinakis, the Greek magnate who admitted in the last hours in an interview with Sky Sports that he does negotiate the purchase of Vasco’s SAF, he has had the help of Giuliano Bertolucci,” he said.
“You remember Bertolucci, right? The biggest Brazilian businessman in business, the guy responsible for taking practically all the important players in Brazil to the main clubs in the world.
“Bertolucci, I managed to find out, has exclusivity in the negotiations between Vasco and Marinakis. Edu Gaspar represents Evangelos Marinakis, Pedrinho represents Vasco and Giuliano Bertolucci comes up as a bridge. He’s the one who makes the contact, he’s the one who’s negotiating.
“I talked to one of the people close to Bertolucci, who responded in the following way – “we are in the diligence phase, the chance of working out seems to be very good.”
“It is important to highlight that Vasco has made it very clear that in addition to Marinakis, it negotiates with three other interested parties, a group of American investors, a group of Arab investors and there is a possibility of a proposal from an Italian group, one of the guys who was already the owner of Leeds and today is the majority shareholder of Sampdoria.”
