There’s a lot of love for Tottenham Hotspur in the world. The club are seen with fond eyes around the global media, and last season has only served to help that.
Mauricio Pochettino is also much loved. His spells in France and Spain have left their mark, and he’s not only respected, but there’s also some affection.
So as Tottenham and Atletico Madrid have a Friday friendly, Spanish newspaper AS take a gushing look at Spurs in their edition today.
AS explain that Tottenham have a lot in common with Atletico, the preparation of players, the team ethos, and a brilliant defence.
They say Pochettino ‘knows how to get 200% from each player’ and he learned that from watching Simeone.
Individual players are picked out, with AS impressed at how Erik Lamela has developed. Christian Eriksen is dubbed ‘The Koke of Pochettino’, which is quite some praise from a Spanish newspaper.
Tottenham’s high standing in the world media is obviously a good thing, although it may make a huge cub moving for Pochettino more likely at some stage.
