Already looking for summer targets, Manchester United had scouts in Portugal at the weekend.
As reported by newspaper O Jogo, the Red Devils were one of the clubs who sent ‘spies’ to the match between Porto and Vizela at the Estádio do Dragão.
The outlet doesn’t say if Manchester United had a specific target at the match. They just report that their scouts were joined by officials from Atletico Madrid, Real Betis, Bayer Leverkusen, Lyon, Marseille and Red Star.
What those clubs saw was an average performance from Porto, who, despite not impressing, did the job to beat Vizela 2-0.
Two players from the Dragons could stand out with their performances. One was Pepê, who’s back to the wing and scored the opening goal, and the other was Mehdi Taremi, who had his 20th goal in the season.
Manchester United have had scouts spotted at Porto matches multiple times this season, so the Red Devils certainly have a good reason to be following the Dragons.
The Porto player who has been linked most with an Old Trafford move this season was goalkeeper Diogo Costa. But with Vizela not offering any danger last night, there wasn’t a lot to see from him on this occasion.
