With Cody Gakpo’s form at the World Cup, it’s inevitable to think about Manchester United’s pursuit for him.
The Red Devils were reported to be in a strong chase for the winger in the summer, having failed to reach an agreement with PSV for the transfer.
Since Gakpo has three goals in three World Cup matches for the Netherlands, the rumours about a transfer are only growing, as it’s believed he could be off from the Eredivisie side in January.
One of those speaking of this potential move is Dutch legend Willy van de Kerkhof. He claims this transfer could happen pretty soon, and even brought a price for which the club should let their star go.
“If he plays a good World Cup, and he is working on that, then I think he will be gone by Christmas,” said van de Kerkhof.
“Of course I don’t decide on it, but I wouldn’t sell him for less than 80 million euros.”
The quotes are brought by Sport Nieuws, who points out Gakpo has been linked to Manchester United, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
PSV watcher Rik Elfrink, however, makes it clear that there’s no need for a rush now.
On Twitter, the journalist claims it’s only after the World Cup that Gakpo will make a decision about staying at PSV or leaving his club, ‘whether it will be Manchester United or something else’.
