Manchester United recently scouted highly rated Schalke midfielder Assan Ouedraogo, who appears set for a move away from the German side this summer.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who say Manchester United may be in the mix for ‘one of the biggest talents’ of his age in Europe.
They explain that while this season may have been marred by a long injury break, the reality is that the Schalke jewel is likely to be on his way this summer.
He ‘immediately showed’ why numerous top clubs in Europe are interested in him when he made his return to the starting 11 following a four month break due to a long-term injury in his syndesmotic ligament.
And they’ve been following him since, with a list of clubs, including Manchester United, scouting him at various points this year.
Manchester United in particular had a scout in attendance to watch him for the game against Düsseldorf on April 27th. That game finished 1-1, with a strike from Ao Tanaka ruling out Kenan Karaman’s opener.
Their assessment of him isn’t clear but RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, VfB Stuttgart and Atalanta are all in the mix. The first two have the best chances of getting the 17-year-old, who ‘will definitely change in the summer’.
One idea that hasn’t been ruled out is that clubs sign him now but leave him at Schalke to continue his development where is comfortable and guaranteed playing time.
He’s a name to keep an eye on and Manchester United are very much in the mix, having noted his performances and had him watched at least once in the last month.
