Manchester United are believed to be flirting to Maximiliano Allegri in case they do eventually decide to replace Erik ten Hag.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say Manchester United are interested in the Italian boss should things not work out with Ten Hag.
They explain that there is currently an air of ‘silent verification’ around Ten Hag at this moment in time, with Manchester United still seemingly backing him after sticking by him in the summer.
Behind the scenes, though, it’s claimed they have been quietly sounding out Allegri about a possible move should it come to it.
CM.it say ‘little birds’ have been making overtures towards the coach, who is available on a free after leaving Juventus.
The ‘channel’ between both parties is always open and someone is taking the trouble to feed the idea and sound out the mood in Manchester. They’re not the only side Allegri would be keen on, but the interest is there, nonetheless.
There’s no mention of whom is fuelling the idea, but it would not be amiss to suggest that it’s probably Allegri’s agent stirring the pot and seeing what might be available.
His client is clearly interested in returning to work and Manchester United are never out of the headlines so it’s an easy link to make, and high profile too.
In reality, even if Ten Hag were to be sacked it’s unlikely Allegri would be high up the list of options given how miserable that second spell at Juventus proved to be.
