Manchester United are one of the sides who have ‘expressed interest’ Hertha BSC youngster Kennert Eichhorn.

That’s according to BILD, who insist that Manchester United are in the mix for the 16-year-old. He’s going to make a decision about his future this summer.

Eichhorn has been earning rave reviews for his performances for the 2. Bundesliga side and, picking up admirers in the process.

Sport Witness have already covered the growing interest in him. A report back in November explained that Manchester United were in the battle as Europe’s elite lined up to try and sign the youngster.

Manchester United and friends

Now BILD back that up. The newspaper reports that many top clubs are ‘lining up’ to sign the youngster. Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Barcelona, Manchester United and Real Madrid to be specific. Those clubs have all ‘expressed interest’ in him.

In fact, reports in Spain have made it clear that Madrid are particularly keen on him. The Spanish giants see him as having the potential to replace Toni Kroos long-term.

The fact that Hertha Berlin’s rising star has a release clause worth €10-12m is also very attractive. That basically makes him a very affordable risk worth taking.

Eichhorn, for his part, will decide where he will move after the season is over. He and his family will make the decision, and his departure is widely expected.

Return to fitness key

For now, he’s focused on getting back to full fitness. The youngster is currently wearing a protective boot and using crutches after suffering a serious ankle injury over a month ago. An MRI scan later revealed a syndesmosis injury in his left foot.

That’s seen him wearing a special protective boot, an ‘Airwalker’ for the last month. And he still has to wear it for another four weeks before returning as well.

Thus, transfer ideas and plans are being put on hold. But he will have options in the summer, and Manchester United is likely to be one of them.
