Manchester United’s Victor Lindelöf is in his final year of contract and his future beyond this season remains uncertain.
Last month, we covered claims from Italy which stated AC Milan advisor want to sign the centre-back at all costs. Three days ago, Tuttosport reported the Sweden international has offered himself to Juventus, who want to improve their defence in January.
On Friday, Milan advisor Zlatan Ibrahimović stated he’s aware of the reports linking Milan to the Manchester United player. However, he refused to confirm whether the Rossoneri are willing to make an approach for him.
Sweden will face Slovakia in the UEFA Nations League later today and ahead of this tie, Fotbolldirekt had a chat with the 30-year-old.
He claims the recent reports linking him to other clubs is because of his contract situation at Manchester United but isn’t thinking about an exit.
“This [transfer] is not something I think about. My focus has been to come back from the injury and play football again. But of course, there will be writings now what will happen when I am in my last year,” he said.
Earlier this month, Manchester United appointed Rúben Amorim as their new manager. The Sweden international played alongside the Portuguese at Benfica and is excited to meet the new boss at Old Trafford.
“I was young at the time, and we didn’t have a relationship outside of football, but I’ve heard great things about him as a coach. It will be great to meet him again. It’s been many years since we played together,” Lindelöf explained.
He missed the start of this season due to an injury, restricting him to seven appearances in all competitions. The central defender was limited to 28 minutes of action with Sweden last month. This is something he wants to improve in November’s international break.
“My goal is always to help the team. Now I have come back, made 90 minutes at United which has been very nice. It’s a different situation for me now,” he added.
