Real Madrid are not going to make it easy for Manchester United to sign Raphael Varane this summer and intend to ‘make United sweat’.
That’s according to the Real Madrid oreintated website Defensa Central, who cover the situation around the French defender today.
They explain that Madrid have no intention of accepting Manchester United’s first offer for Varane and are not going to make it easy for them to reach a deal.
While Los Blancos need to sell if Varane won’t extend his contract, which expires next summer, Florentino Perez will not be pleased with the first offer from Old Trafford.
Indeed that is considered as a good basis to start from, with the primary objective to get Varane signed to a new deal. If that can’t be managed, which is looking increasingly likely, then negotiations can really take place.
Real Madrid want to take ‘revenge’ on Manchester United for what they’ve perceived as ‘tricks’ played in recent years when Madrid have tried to sign stars such as David de Gea and Paul Pogba.
The Red Devils made those deals very difficult, and now Madrid have the opportunity to ‘return the favour’ with Varane.
They intend to squeeze as much money as possible of out Manchester United, and Perez’s plan is to get as much as €65m for him.
That would be a bold price to ask for, but it’s worth remembering this is coming from a website with a very pro-Real Madrid worldview.
What is clear is that Varane is going to be part of a big soap opera once again, and clearly, Manchester United will be in the middle of it, as they have been for a number of years.
