Manchester United will need €25m to sign Boca Juniors youngster Aaron Anselmino this month, after the Argentine club moved to secure his future and ward off interest.
That’s according to Planeta Boca Juniors, who reports that Manchester United recently made enquiries regarding the 18-year-old defender.
They explain that the Boca jewel ‘arouses interest’ for some of the worlds big teams, including Manchester United, who made enquiries with the club and regarding the player’s personal situation.
These came in this January transfer window, so Boca moved quickly to get the youngster signed to a new deal until 2028.
That deal included an increase in his salary and saw his release clause bumped up to $20m, with Boca determined to avoid any future repeats of the Valentin Barco situation. He recently joined Brighton in a $10m deal, a figure seen as far below his value.
That $20m figure has increased in the final days of the window to €25m, though, with an emergency clause activating in its place.
Boca will only sell through that clause, meaning Manchester United will have to pay a very high figure for the highly rated youngster.
Whether they would be willing to do so isn’t mentioned but it seems unlikely, with Anselmino perhaps a name to keep an eye on in future rather than the dying days of this winter window.
