While Manchester United need a starting striker next season, Erik ten Hag seems to have fallen in love with Rasmus Højlund.
The Denmark international has caught the eye this season at Atalanta, and there has been a lot of talk of the Red Devils thinking about a move.
Gazzetta dello Sport cover their own information on Friday, and make one thing clear: Manchester United have not made an official move for the forward just yet and will need a ‘maxi offer’ to get it done.
That, in itself, is not really a big deal, but the interest is certainly there, and everyone at Atalanta understand that no one ‘remains indifferent’ to the idea of moving to Old Trafford.
The Serie A club themselves could also end up under the spell, aware they ‘could not turn a blind eye’ to ‘certain offers’ that could be made.
Gazzetta explain that if Manchester United ‘were to offer an amount of around €60m’ for Højlund, it would be ‘disrespectful’ for Atalanta to say no taking into account they bought him for €17m a year ago.
Not only that, but the Premier League side would be able to offer him a bigger wage, far more than the circa €1m/year he is on now, which they describe as ‘totally in line with his age’.
Manchester United would undoubtedly be able to ‘multiply’ that, and while they have not made a move for him yet, it’s pointed out that English club move with ‘sudden blitzes and offers that tend to avoid endless negotiations’.
Basically, a ‘take it or leave it’ bid, much like the successful one made for Amad Diallo not too long ago, which was simply too good to refuse.
