Unless something quickly changes at Napoli with Kim Min-jae’s contract, the stories surrounding the South Korea international’s future are going to continue for a while, especially with Manchester United reportedly involved.
There’s no denying the Red Devils have improved tremendously under Erik ten Hag this season, but there are still a few key pieces missing in their squad to take them to the next level.
A new striker is definitely needed at Manchester United, and there has been talk of a new centre-back potentially coming in, with the South Korean seen as a valid option.
That’s because there is a €45-50m release clause (depending on the report) in his current contract with Napoli, which is valid for 15 days in the summer.
This situation is an uncomfortable one for the Serie A side, who probably didn’t expect their summer signing to attract this much attention so quickly, but it’s one they need to deal with.
One man was asked about the defender’s future and Manchester United’s interest in him, and that was former Napoli sporting director Carlo Jacomuzzi, who spoke to Radio Punto Nuovo, relayed by Area Napoli.
He said: “Kim and United? It would be very convenient. Manchester United must improve a lot and someone like the Korean would be a suitable profile.”
