If success of a transfer was determined in shirt sales, then Antony’s move to Real Betis from Manchester United would be right up there.

That’s reported by Diario de Sevilla, who cover how the Brazilian has proven to be hugely popular with Betis fans since arriving from Manchester United in January.

Antony joined the Spanish side on loan until the end of the season two months ago and hasn’t looked back since, shining in Manuel Pellegrini’s side in what appears to be a fully fledged career comeback.

Diario say he has ‘breathed a breath of fresh air’ into the Spanish club and his impact has been noticeable off the pitch too.

That’s particularly been the case in terms of finances, where his number of shirt sales has topped 1,000.

He’s been the ‘absolute leader’ in shirt sales since he arrived at the club, seeing 1169 sold with his named printed on the back. To put it into context, he’s even outselling Isco right now.

That’s another big bonus in what has already been a successful loan deal for them, and perhaps something that will make them push even harder to work out a permanent deal with Manchester United in the summer.
