Even though it seemed like Atletico Madrid and Barcelona were close to agreeing a swap between Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann, the chances of a deal apparently collapsed, as the clubs couldn’t find common ground.
Outlet Sport details this story, claiming that the Camp Nou side now look for another option for the Frenchman.
Griezmann initially claimed he’d only leave Barcelona for Atletico Madrid, but since the Catalan side need a cut in their payroll, they’ll continue working on his exit. One of the alternatives is the Premier League, where Manchester United are pointed as a potential destination.
Barça reportedly see the English market as a place where the forward could continue with his high wages. And it’s said that in case the Red Devils consider the transfer as a business deal with good conditions, then they’d be interested in the signing.
Other clubs such as Chelsea and Juventus are also said to be interested, even though it currently looks like it’s really Barça who want to get rid of his wages as soon as possible.
Sport doesn’t say how much the La Liga giants are demanding for the move. While negotiating the swap with Saul, they wanted the midfielder plus a fee of €20m.
