Manchester United are closing in on a move for coach Andreas Georgson, with an agreement close to being done.
That’s according to Nettavisen, who report that Manchester United have contacted the coach to offer him an assistant role and a move to the Premier League.
They explain that nothing is clear at this moment in time, but it is expected that the Swede will leave Lillestrøm, with several sources in Norway and Sweden telling Nettavisen as much.
Their information suggests that the situation is currently ‘at a concrete level’ and Manchester United are pushing forward ahead of paying a buy out clause in Georgson’s current contract.
This is expected to be worth around four million Norwegian Krone, which works out at just under £2m in total.
There are various formalities which need to be dealt with but if the matter progresses as the parties wish, Georgson could be added to Manchester United’s staff over the weekend.
Lillestrøm are refusing to comment on the matter at this moment in time, with general manager Roberto Lauritsen refusing to provide an answer when contacted by Nettavisen.
That could be seen as another hint a deal is underway and Georgson will return to England after spells with Brentford, Arsenal and Southampton, where he focused on set pieces.
Indeed, Manchester United’s new technical director Jason Wilcox was the man who hired him for the Saints, and it seems he wants him again at Old Trafford.
