Manchester United have been looking for a new left-back since Luke Shaw picked up an injury last week. The England international joins Tyrell Malacia in the treatment room, leaving Erik ten Hag currently without a recognised senior player in that position.
The Red Devils have already been linked to a few left-backs and a new name has been added to the list late in the window.
That’s according to Gianluca Di Marzio, who says Manchester United have carried out polls for AS Roma’s Leonardo Spinazzola.
The journalist doesn’t make it clear if the Red Devils contacted the 30-year-old’s camp or the Serie A side.
This is clarified by Sky Italia as they claim the Premier League club have made a ‘first attempt’ with the Giallorossi for Spinazzola. The ‘first attempt’ mentioned here would likely be the first contact between Manchester United and Roma.
The Italy international’s deal expires in 2024 and he’s made two appearances this season.
Di Marzio and Sky make no mention of whether the defender and/or José Mourinho’s side are in favour of a move.
Apart from Spinazzola, Manchester United’s left-back target list also includes Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso and Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella.
