Manchester United’s chase for a new left-back is turning into a drama.
Today, right after it was claimed by the Spanish media that the Red Devils placed a formal bid to sign Marcos Alonso from Barcelona, it was also said that Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella was ‘very close’ to a move to Old Trafford.
Both targets were supposed to arrive on loan spells.
Now a new story from Marca only makes the situation more confusing.
First of all, it’s well known that Manchester United weren’t supposed to be chasing a new left-back this summer, and are only rushing for a panic signing because of injuries to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw.
According to Marca’s latest story, the Red Devils are offering Marcos Alonso a two-year contract.
It’s said that the Red Devils first want the Spaniard on a year-long loan from Barcelona. Then next summer, when his contract with the Catalan side expires, they’d give him another year.
Alonso is said to be ‘thinking’ about the possibility, as even though his idea was to stay at the La Liga giants, things could now change.
For now, Marca don’t cover Barcelona’s stance on the subject.
