The Italian media are making Sofyan Amrabat sound increasingly desperate for a move to Manchester United this summer. Fiorentina loaned the midfielder to the Premier League club last season in a deal which included an option to buy.
That option was thought to be around €20m, and Manchester United didn’t use it. They knew that even if they went through with a deal and took the midfielder back that they could negotiate a cheaper price anyway.
Fiorentina had given Amrabat time off to sort out his future and that time has now come to an end with him asked to return to training.
Corriere dello Sport report on that and say ‘Only Manchester United is in his head’. They further go on to say ‘his head is still across the Channel’, and it’s clear that in Italy there’s a belief the 27-year-old is desperate for the move to happen.
According to the report, Manchester United remains the ‘most valid option’ for the player and there’s a chance he could get his wish.
The Premier League club are said to be ‘pushing’ for another loan, whereas Fiorentina want a permanent transfer.
Reading between the lines it’s quite possible Manchester United see Amrabat as a back up option in case they can’t secure another midfield target.
