On Tuesday, Le10 Sport reported Manchester United are optimistic about concluding a deal for Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte. It was also stated Luis Enrique will have the final say on his exit.
The Uruguay international joined PSG from Sporting in June 2023 and wasn’t relied upon regularly by Enrique for key fixtures last season.
Foot Mercato say the midfielder didn’t fully fit the requirements of the manager, leading to the Ligue 1 winners looking for other options this summer.
These factors, coupled with Enrique’s treatment of him, especially in the second half of last season, seem to have convinced Ugarte to leave PSG and Manchester United are expected to be his next destination.
The 23-year-old is aware the Red Devils are keen to secure his services. The possibility of joining them clearly pleases him so much so that the South American can see himself at Manchester United in the ‘coming weeks’.
Foot Mercato say the talks between Manchester United and PSG are progressing. It’s claimed the position between the two clubs is ‘getting closer’ and the possibility of him ending up at Old Trafford is ‘gaining more weight’.
Ugarte is with Uruguay at the Copa América, where they will face Colombia in the semi-final on Thursday.
The report says ‘all that remains’ is for the parties to sort out the details of the deal and that would take place after the Copa América.
