On January 26th, FcInterNews reported Manchester United have a high chance of signing Denzel Dumfries if Erik ten Hag is still at Old Trafford next season. It was also stated the manager loves the Inter Milan player.
Last week, the same website explained the Serie A side are hoping others join the Red Devils to build a transfer race.
Recent claims have stated Bayern Munich made contact for the right-back but didn’t take further steps to sign him in the winter market.
This is relayed by Calciomercato, who then provide their own take on the 27-year-old and about Manchester United’s interest.
The Netherlands international’s deal lasts until 2025 and no progress has been made to renew it. The report says he earns €2.5m per year and the Serie A side were ready to offer an improved deal.
It’s claimed the negotiations broke down because his salary request was higher than what Inter were willing to offer and the situation hasn’t changed so far. Therefore, Dumfries’ future seems to be away from the San Siro after this season.
If there’s no development in the renewal in the coming months, ‘everything suggests’ the Dutchman will leave Inter in the summer window.
When discussing interested parties, Manchester United are tagged. It’s explained that Erik ten Hag’s side are ‘in the front row’ to sign Dumfries.
As we’ve mentioned before, a lot of this seems wishful thinking from Inter Milan, with Premier League interest often talked up more than is probably the case.
