Last month, Alfredo Pedullà reported Manchester United are in the picture for Atalanta star Giorgio Scalvini.

The centre-back continues to shine for the Serie A side and his fine displays have seen top European clubs take notice.

Foot Mercato mention Manchester United in a report that focuses on Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the 20-year-old.

The Ligue 1 winners are looking to strengthen their defence and their advisor, Luis Campos, has identified three candidates. This includes the Italy international, AS Roma’s Gianluca Mancini and Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno.

Scalvini is high on Campos’ target list, but it won’t be easy for the Paris club to convince La Dea to sanction his sale in the winter market. As of now, the two clubs haven’t opened negotiations.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been following the player closely for several months. Among these clubs, it’s claimed Erik ten Hag’s side are ‘ahead of the competition’ to secure his services.

The defender’s deal lasts until 2028 and the outlet says the Italian club will demand €50m for him.

Foot Mercato state Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are ‘under more and more pressure’, as they know that there will be clubs trying to sign him next summer and it’ll be difficult for them to hold on their star.
