The Argentine media are now wondering what Manchester City will do once they complete the signing of Claudio Echeverri from River Plate.
The Citizens recently found an €18.5m deal to sign him from the Buenos Aires side, and as they’re supposed to bring him to England in December, there’s uncertainty about where to place him.
Manchester City were initially expected to send him to Girona, but a story from Olé now explains that the Spanish side may not benefit from that.
It’s said that UEFA’s recent rules have ‘cast uncertainty’, since two clubs in the same European competition can’t make transfers between them during that season.
So in case Manchester City and Girona do qualify for the Champions League this season, then Echeverri can’t be sent by the English club to the Spanish side.
Olé points out Pep Guardiola’s side ‘will have to make decisions’, as they could also be bringing Savinho and Yan Couto to the club this summer.
Echeverri is enjoying his final months at River Plate, and it seems there’s currently no certainty as to what his next club will be if it isn’t Manchester City.
