Omar Marmoush’s big money move to Manchester City in the January transfer window has left Eintracht Frankfurt hopeful of similar future sales.

That’s at least according to board spokesman Alex Hellman, whose recent comments at a general meeting on February 17th have been relayed by Frankfurter Rundschau.

Marmoush joined Manchester City in a €75m deal towards the end of January as the Cityzens spent big to strengthen Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The move was a massive financial hit for the German side, who signed Marmoush on a free transfer from Wolfsburg in July 2023.

That was one of the smartest transfers of all time, particularly in Germany, as the Egyptian went on to score 37 goals and register 20 assists in 67 goals for the club over the next 18 months.

Those numbers eventually attracted Manchester City, who were happy to pay Eintracht the second highest transfer fee in their history for their star man.

Hellman is certainly pleased with the deal, even if there were tears as Marmoush departed, and hopes other players will see the transfer as a reason to join the club in future.

“Marmoush became a player that Manchester City courted,” he said.

“He became a player who could make a good salary jump and seize the chance of a lifetime. And he became their player, who brought good money into our coffers.

“This farewell will motivate other players to come to us. They see that such a transfer can be managed without contortions, strikes or activities by family and advisors.

“The transfer of Omar shows our way in putting together the squad. It’s about signing players at the right time and then letting them move on at the right moment.”
