Matheus Nunes has featured regularly for Manchester City since October’s international break.

The midfielder’s displays for the Citizens saw Portugal manager Roberto Martínez again include him in his squad to face Poland and Croatia in the UEFA Nations League this month.

The Manchester City player has been forced to withdraw from the squad for those two matches. This is confirmed by the Portugal football association via their official website.

They state the 26-year-old and Sporting’s Pedro Gonçalves have been released from the national team squad “due to injuries”.

At the weekend, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man played the full 90 minutes in Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

It’s claimed the duo suffered setbacks while in action with Pep Guaridola’s side and the Lions.

Guardiola won’t be able to rely upon star midfielder Rodri for the rest of the season. The manager and Manchester City will be hopeful Nunes could be in fit to face Tottenham Hotspur on November 23rd.
