Manchester City have been strongly linked with Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso over the past two weeks but no official offer has come forward so far.

There has been talk that the Citizens will offer around €65m for the Italian, with wildly different claims regarding what would be acceptable. The Italian media seems confused about where the saga is really going.

TuttoSport report today that Pep Guardiola wants the versatile player at all costs, as he believes that Manchester City are lacking in the full-backs department.

They, however, doubt whether City can afford him this month.

At the same time, Corriere dello Sport lean towards Manchester City making an offer in the next few hours. They believe Juve want €70m and City will offer around €60m and make up the distance using bonuses.

The newspaper’s feeling is that this bid can cause ‘upheaval’ at Juve, who will consider selling the player. There is no mention of a financial problem at the Etihad and there is confidence that an offer will be made after the Citizens’ Champions League game against Club Brugge today.

Corriere dello Sport’s stance carries more weight, largely because Manchester City do have a fair amount of financial legroom. More than that, they also have squad needs to address quickly.
