Manchester City are making moves to sign Andrea Cambiaso from Juventus, but face resistance from the Italian giants.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that Manchester City have targeted the Juventus man as part of their January transfer window drive.
Juventus, though, have made it clear that Cambiaso is ‘absolutely not for sale’. While an ‘off-market offer’ could change that, for now they don’t want to sell.
That’s yet to come as Manchester City have only sent an ‘expression of interest’ in the 24-year-old left-back. It’s not certain when City will turn that into a concrete move.
When they do, Juventus will resist. Manager Thiago Motta has even been publicly praising the player at the start of this week. That’s a further sign that Juventus absolutely don’t want to sell, particularly in the January transfer window.
It will be up to Manchester City to change that. They appear determined to add to their defence this month and are already close to wrapping up a deal for Abdukodir Khusanov. Palmeiras youngster Vitor Reis has also been targeted.
Cambiaso would presumably be targeted to solve the problem at left back, with no natural player in the Manchester City squad at this moment in time. Josko Gvardiol has often played in that position but is primarily a centre-back.
