Lamine Yamal is the generational talent whose performances in the European Championships for Spain earned him worldwide recognition.

The 17-year-old is likely to be a future Ballon d’Or winner in the future and even though Barcelona are cash-strapped, they won’t sell the winger at any price.

Concluding a fresh deal with the youngster is a priority, reports Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, who claim that the Premier League clubs are “monitoring” the situation in case no extension is agreed upon.

Yamal hopes to stay with Barça and has asked his agent, Jorge Mendes, to convey this to the club. The attacker believes that he deserves to be in the top salary bracket of the squad and Barcelona have expressed their willingness to meet his demands.

The pay packet would put him in line with the likes of Raphinha, Pedri, and Gavi, but Barcelona’s financial situation may prove to be problematic. Nothing is done until it’s done, even though a date has been set – July 13-14 – to conclude matters.

Just in case something catastrophic happens, it’s thought that Manchester City and Liverpool are there with the hope of signing him, although they know the player has made it clear that his priority is to stay at Barcelona.
