Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has Ederson as his first-choice goalkeeper with Stefan Ortega providing cover to the Brazilian.
The two Citizens stoppers have deals lasting until 2026. Ederson was linked with a move away to Saudi Arabia in the summer window, but no deal took shape.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have looked at a few options in the market and this includes AC Milan star Mike Maignan. That’s at least what Calciomercato are now reporting.
The 29-year-old has starred for the Rossoneri this season, keeping four clean sheets and conceding 16 goals from 14 matches. He impressed in Milan’s 3-1 Champions League win over Real Madrid earlier this week.
Maignan’s deal lasts until 2026. Paulo Fonseca’s side have been working on renewing the France international’s contract.
Calciomercato state Bayern Munich are thinking about a long-term successor for Manuel Neuer while Manchester City have doubts about Ederson. It’s claimed both clubs made an approach for Maignan in ‘recent months’, without making any further progress.
The Frenchman, for his part, ‘wasn’t tempted’ by Guardiola’s side and Bayern. The report states he didn’t ask his agent to proceed with these two clubs.
Maignan is happy at Milan and is close to signing a new four-year deal [with an option for another year] worth €6m per year. The parties are finalising the last details for the player to sign an extension at the San Siro.
