Manchester City’s move for Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso never took off in the winter transfer window.

Despite numerous claims about their interest in the full-back, a formal offer never reached Juventus.

There has been talk that Manchester City’s interest has impacted Cambiaso’s performances this season. Now, former midfielder Massimo Ambrosini has spoken of the Citizens and their interest.

Before Juventus’ 1-1 draw against Bologna, Ambrosini was asked about the Italy international.

He tipped Manchester City to return to the fold for Cambiaso, telling DAZN, as relayed by TuttoJuve: “Cambiaso is one of Juve’s best players. I think Manchester City will try to buy him again, because he’s a good guy.”

Speaking further, Ambrosini also stated that the versatile full-back needs to improve in an attacking sense.

“His growth must not stop, and everything he’s done has helped him improve. He must do more in the attack.”

While Cambiaso can certainly improve his output, his main strengths lie in the construction phase.

He has the ability to invert into midfield from full-back and can also play on either flank.

These traits appeal to Pep Guardiola a lot, with the Spaniard having had multiple full-backs who can play in midfield at Manchester City.

Cambiaso has shown a tendency to do that successfully and he will be a handy signing for Manchester City, who could also need cover in midfield next season. The Italy international can handle that too, having played in the heart of the park multiple times.
