For the past month or so, various claims from Argentina have named Manchester City as one of the contenders to sign Boca Juniors’ Valentín Barco.
On November 28th, Soy Xeneize stated the Citizens are keen and the 19-year-old could triple his salary if he were to move to the Etihad.
La Voz have a report on the current situation at Boca Juniors, and they also point out Manchester City’s interest in the youngster.
The Argentine club were supposed to have an election last week, but that was postponed and the new date is yet to be announced.
Argentina newspaper Diario RN also provide a fresh update on Manchester City’s pursuit of Barco.
Boca Juniors are attentive as the Premier League winners are ‘coming’ for their player. It’s explained that Guardiola’s side, who are ‘still interested’ in Barco, are the ‘main candidate’ to secure his services.
The report adds he has a clause of less than €10m and the South American club’s board of directors are ‘looking for a direct sale so that the income is higher’.
That means they’d likely negotiate a figure higher than €10m, with bonuses added, but allow payment to be paid over a number of years, rather than in one go as is the case with release clauses.
Barco has been used in all three positions on the left, where he has managed a goal and four assists from 32 games this year.
