Paul Pogba has faced criticism in France both before and after his return to Manchester United, with media in the country expecting more from the player.
During the last international break, Pogba was criticised for the his performance against Belarus, with it being said a good game could have seen him become ‘less marketing, more sporty’.
After France’s victory over Bulgaria, Saturday’s edition of L’Equipe had a full page article on the Manchester United player and the gist is generally the same as it usually is: Pogba didn’t play badly, but they don’t think he was that great either.
Before the Bulgaria match, Pogba is said to have annoyed manager Didier Deschamps by turning up late for a training session. The Manchester United player is said to have turned up ‘last and late’ for training at the Stade de France.
According to Get French Football News, Deschamps was visibly angry at the 23-year-old.
Yesterday evening during training at the Stade de France, Didier Deschamps visibly had a go at Paul Pogba for turning up both last & late.

Deschamps was also publicly critical of Pogba after France’s 4-1 win over Bulgaria. He told reporters: “He can and must do better. He knows it.”
Pogba would certainly be hoping to put this all behind him quickly, and answer his critics on the pitch. France play the Netherlands on Monday, and that would present a perfect opportunity for Pogba to shine.
