Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has spoken to Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville about a return to the club this summer.
That’s according to Soccer News, who say that despite that, Feyenoord’s Supervisory Board are doubtful over a potential deal for the forward.
They report that the Dutch champions have an ‘old acquaintance’ on their wish list and that is Summerville, who spent time at the club as a youngster before his move to Leeds.
The forward ‘can count on’ a lot of interest this summer after his performances last season and Slot has spoken to him about a potential switch as he and his team look for a new right winger.
Feyenoord, though, would have to ‘dig deep’ into their resources to the player as he is currently valued at €15m by Leeds.
That is why those in charge at the Dutch club have ‘serious doubts’ about signing the player, particularly as it would be a symbol of their own failure given, they sold him for €1.5m three years ago.
They’re aware that Slot sees ‘exceptional qualities’ in the player and believes he can add something but are wary of paying such a figure for Summerville. There is also his history at the club, which saw him come to blows with a former teammate, get fined, and eventually shipped out.
A move to get him from Leeds is seen as a ‘bridge too far’ by his superiors, though, and spending more than €15m for a position that is not the absolute priority ‘would be crazy’.
The interest remains because of Slot, who has spoken to the player about a potential return, which at this moment in time looks unlikely.
